What you’ll do (the role)
Summary
The APAC Energy Markets team plays a critical role in securing revenue streams to drive value and manage market risk for Lightsource bp’s APAC renewable electricity generation and storage portfolio.
As the Senior Analyst, you will support stakeholders with market analysis activities, automate processes, report on asset performance and work on valuations for Lightsource bp’s fleet of assets. In particular, you will play a key role in future project revenue assessments and develop reporting frameworks, providing stakeholders with regular updates on asset performance and market trends.
You will be a valued contributor of the APAC Analytics team with an integral role in managing stakeholders and providing insights into business performance.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Responsibility for monitoring and reporting on market trends (Australia and APAC region), conditions, price outlook and regulatory changes and evaluating these impacts on Lightsource bp’s operational and development portfolio.
- Own day-to-day analysis and regular reporting on market prices, market fundamentals and changes, and policy developments.
- Procure, manage, review and provide feedback on external third-party forecasts and reports.
- Create and present reporting packs to a wide range of stakeholders, including with a view to automate processes.
- Develop internal forecasting models and generate price & asset revenue forecasts.
- Lead analytics activities for non-NEM APAC regions (WEM, Japan, New Zealand etc)
- Support the Portfolio Optimisation Manager with pricing and optimisation activities of the team.
- Work cross functionally to align inputs with settlements and other users of energy markets data
- Contribute to development of internal databases and their maintenance.
- Develop predictive commercial models in collaboration with other team members.
Why you’ll make a great member of the team
Experience & Knowledge Required
- 2+ years of experience in the National Electricity Market in Australia as a Trading/Market Analyst or a Physical Trader (Spot Trader). WEM or other APAC market experience is highly regarded.
- Experience working with utility scale renewables and storage assets. BESS modelling experience highly valued.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of the market dynamics affecting long-term price projections in the NEM. Experience in long-term price forecasting (PLEXOS or other) is highly regarded.
- Experience presenting modelling results to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Highly numerical with advanced Excel (VBA) and Python, SQL skills expected.
Education Required
- Relevant degree in data analytics, engineering, commerce or a related field.
Additional Notes
- Occasional interstate travel may be required depending on candidate’s main location.
