What you’ll do (the role)

Purpose of the role

  • Develop and grow relationships with an extensive network of counterparties across utilities, corporates and governments as well as market consultants and brokers for Lightsource bp in Australia
  • Help develop innovative energy solutions across renewable generation, storage and trading capability across the Australian portfolio to help customers manage energy needs in a transitioning market
  • On-going customer relationship and offtake contract management
  • Support in contracting strategies, commercial negotiations, market and regulatory intelligence

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Identify and originate opportunities for revenue contracting for renewable generation and storage assets in Australia
  • Active marketing to a broad range of new client targets while expanding opportunities within existing network
  • Manage timely submissions to tenders for renewable generation and storage offtakes and establish processes for continued improvements to efficient responses to EoIs and RfPs
  • Working closely with expert key internal stakeholders across development, planning, legal, connections, delivery and asset management teams to develop and offer a seamless product to clients
  • Negotiating heads of terms and PPA contracts with clients with the support of a highly experienced legal team

 

Who we’re looking for

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with a keen ability to form and grow genuine connections quickly
  • Deep understanding of the National Electricity Market and key players, knowledge of the Wholesale Electricity Market would be advantageous
  • Well-informed on energy market developments, regulatory changes and renewable targets of governments and companies
  • Strong commercial acumen and familiar with power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other energy sales structures in large-scale renewable energy

 

Experience and Education

  • At least 5 years of experience working in the Australian electricity market, developing, and managing client relationships predominantly with large commercial and industrial customers
  • Degree level education
  • Extensive network of strong and positive client relationships covering energy markets with a solid track record in originating new sales leads
  • Experience in structuring, negotiating and executing PPAs with utility and corporate offtakers with a fair and commercial approach
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
