What You’ll do (the role)

Summary

The APAC Energy Markets team plays a critical role in securing revenue streams to drive value and manage market risk for Lightsource bp’s APAC renewable electricity generation and storage portfolio.   

As a PPA Originator, you will be involved in the development and implementation of origination and hedging strategies to support the Australian and New Zealand generation and storage pipeline and portfolio.  You will play a key role in activities for securing offtake arrangements, including coordinating submissions, RfP responses and other origination process.  Your scope will include energy marketing, origination and PPA management and reporting.  

In this role you will have roles in:

  • Develop and grow relationships with counterparties across utilities, corporates and governments as well as market consultants and brokers for Lightsource bp in Australia and New Zealand.  

  • Contribute to the identification and origination of opportunities for revenue contracting of renewable generation and storage assets in Australia. 

  • Contribute to building market intelligence and support market analytics and pricing activities. 

  • Manage environmental product positions. 

  • Co-ordinate timely submissions to tenders and ad hoc proposals for renewable generation and storage offtakes. 

  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders across development, planning, legal, structured finance, delivery and asset management teams to deliver a seamless product to clients. 

 

Who we’re looking for 

Knowledge and Experience

    • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in the National Electricity Market, in addition to utility scale renewables experience. 

    • Well-informed on energy market developments, regulatory changes and competitor tracking. 

    • Strong commercial acumen and familiarity with power purchase agreements and energy storage contract structures. 

    • Demonstrated analytical capability and a track record of identifying and evaluating opportunities and contracting structures to support renewable energy development and portfolio optimization. 

    • Experience building client relationships within the energy and corporate sectors. 

    • Previous energy markets or analytics experience is highly desirable. 

    • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders. 

    • Relevant university degree.
