What you’ll do (the role)

 

SUMMARY

 

Overall accountability for an experienced and commercially minded operations leader to take on the management and leadership of a substantial region playing a leading role in the renewable energy transition. You'll build and inspire high-performing engineers to deliver excellence across your region. 

 

You'll be accountable for the safe and successful delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring your engineering teams consistently perform to the highest operational and safety standards. You'll also manage your region's budget and be responsible for meeting performance targets and client expectations.

 

As a member of the O&M Senior Leadership Team, you'll participate in shaping business and operational strategy, and act as a key support to the O&M Director in enhancing operational excellence across the business unit.

 

This role includes participation in a call-out/standby rota.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Champion a market-leading safety culture, creating and maintaining a safe working environment for staff and visitors, ensuring all activities and tasks are carried out safely and in full accordance with LRSL procedures.
  • Drive the assigned portfolio of assets to consistently exceed industry-leading performance benchmarks (e.g., Performance Ratio, Availability, Repair SLAs), setting the standard for operational excellence.
  • Partner closely with the Regional Planner to ensure service orders are scheduled, completed, and reported against with precision, using robust trend analysis to continuously refine performance.
  • Deliver best-in-class technical excellence and rigorous KPI management, embedding strong operational and commercial governance and proactive risk management.
  • Maximise production and asset availability through industry-leading proactive maintenance procedures, cultivating a genuine "best in class" culture across all operational teams.
  • Drive sector-leading EBITDA performance against operating and capital budgets, ensuring commercial discipline underpins every decision.
  • Apply sharp trend analysis to recurring issues, proactively eliminating shortfalls in plant availability and performance before they impact clients.
  • Build and consolidate trusted, long-term client relationships, positioning strong client liaison as a key driver of repeat and expanded business.
  • Prepare compelling, commercially sound proposals for new contracts and additional services within existing contracts.
  • Lead procurement of subcontract services on optimal commercial terms, safeguarding value and quality.
  • Maintain deep, expert-level command of contracts, warranties, and related terms, ensuring full commercial and legal fluency.
  • Take full responsibility for the line management and development of a high-performing, profitable, and sustainable Regional Team, building a talent pipeline that reflects best practice in the industry.
  • Assure the highest standards of quality across all work performed by LRSL staff and contractors, through rigorous, regular QA inspections of sites, work-in-progress, and documentation.
  • Manage expenditure with commercial discipline, ensuring the efficient utilisation of resources and the timely recharging of all materials used on the client's behalf.
  • Take full accountability for people management, championing effective communication and engagement, performance management, employee development, recruitment, retention, and absence management, to build a resilient, motivated team.
  • Uphold exemplary operational compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality processes, policies, and procedures, including relevant operational standards such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001.

 

Who we’re looking for

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

 

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' proven experience leading and managing a region or team, with demonstrable expertise in budgeting, P&L accountability, and people management.
  • Minimum of five years' progressive leadership experience within a large utility or renewable energy provider.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build strong client relationships, influence at all levels, and connect authentically with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A natural ability to instill trust and confidence, championing company values with credibility across both internal and external audiences.
  • Recognised technical M&E qualifications.
  • A recognised Health and Safety qualification, reflecting a strong personal commitment to safe working practices.

  • Confident, decisive leadership, with the credibility to fulfil the full scope of a Regional Manager role.
