What You’ll do (the role)
Summary
In a new role in the Government Affairs team, you will be acting as key government affairs advisor working in close partnership with the Country Manager and Central Teams to realize Lightsource bp as a local leader within the sector and advance our company goals and ambitions.
Support the development of government affairs strategy in Italy, by acting locally, regionally and at national level build and maintain relationships key stakeholders, internal and external. We look for proactive candidates that can lead a successful public affairs practice and support development of our projects by monitoring energy policy evolutions, legislative developments, analysing their relevance to business and deliver an effective stakeholders’ strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
As Government Affairs Lead – Italy, you will:
- Actively tracking and analysing relevant legislation and policy proposals that impact primarily solar PV and storage.
- Working with central teams to develop policy positions and leading policy and regulatory changes and implementation to support Lightsource bp’s mission.
- Development and implementation of advocacy strategies, in coordination with local needs and pre-agreed positions, including securing meetings and keeping regular interaction with public and private stakeholders.
- Support the business team in developing new business opportunities in the region, including ensuring excellent connections between Lightsource, grid operators and public institutions.
- Build Lightsource bp’s reputation as a solar leader and raise the profile of local teams by creating engaging content. Prepare executive briefing documents for both internal and external audiences.
- Leverage on and lead Lightsource pb participation in trade associations and building coalitions within the energy and renewable sectors. Manage the work of external resources such as consultants or agencies.

Knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of the solar and renewables sector.
- Committed to working in a fast-paced environment with geographically diverse, global colleagues
- Ability to adapt and work in a different cultural environment, both operational and office based
- Demonstrated skills working with leadership; ability to interface with all levels of the organization required
- Qualifications
- University degree: economics/law/engineering/…
- Native in Italian and good level in English
Experience
- Previous experience in renewables/solar energy in energy policy, consultancy, government affairs positions, strategic communication, or public authorities
- Proven track record of getting regulatory changes and implementation, successful interactions with policymakers, including ability to define, strategize, communicate, and deliver against business objectives
- Established network of contacts in the sector and in public administration
