Duties and Responsibilities

 

The candidate will be responsible for most technical elements involved in the PV Project development, design, construction and operation, including support on Standardization, Basic Design, EPC Design reviews and general PV tech support to projects, in compliance with the following main responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of PV plant Basic Design, PV array sizing and optimization process.
  • Support, conduct and coordinate the PV Design review process.
  • Support, conduct and review PV performance calculations and analysis of production data.
  • Conduct PV plant equipment technical review and specification including PV modules, inverters, trackers, and up to some extend switchgears, cables, transformers, other MV/HV equipment, …
  • Maintain and optimise PV plant minimum technical specifications for all equipment and works involved in the constructions of a PV plant.
  • Support the contractual negotiation with EPC regarding general technical areas such as engineering, equipment specifications, performance/testing schedules, ...
  • Support and conduct engineering analysis of new technologies, performance evaluation, etc.
  • Support technically the AM and O&M activity of the projects, with focus on performance, fault analysis and trouble shooting
  • Manage and coordination of external consultants to complete the internal assessments
  • Undertake site visits internationally to ensure technically the quality of the PV plant at different stages of the project, from construction to operation.
  • Support the development of tools and procedures for ensuring consistency, quality and optimize design cost.

 

Knowledge & Experience

 

  • Familiarity with PV industry and PV systems including working knowledge of modules, inverters technologies, tracking systems, transformers, cabling
  • Familiar with the latest development of the PV industry such as bifacial modules, backtracking enhancement strategies, grid compliance challenges, etc
  • Good knowledge of the main players in the industry (TAs, investors, EPCs, third party labs, etc)
  • Experience of large-scale PV plant design, construction and operation.
  • Experience on the preparation of PV Basic Design package and EPC Detail Design reviews.
  • Detailed knowledge of PV array sizing and configuration, including PV design optimisation.
  • Knowledge of PV Plant EPC / O&M contracts, including Technical Appendices
  • Experience of PV systems performance analysis and detailed operational assessment.
  • Knowledge of PVSyst software and others PV design software
  • Familiarity with PV Grid connection applications, agreements, offers and PPA’s
  • Familiarity with storage system technologies and strategies for PV applications
  • General experience in Grid Connection studies and site surveys reports (hydrological, topographical, …)
  • Experience during project construction and operation of PV plants, including QA.

Personal/Work Skills/Education

 

  • Degree in Engineering or Master’s in Renewable Energy or related field;
  • Relevant experience in the Solar PV industry required
  • Fluent English spoken and written. Additional languages is a plus.
  • Proactive and being able to prioritise workload,
  • Autonomous, adaptable and multi-skilled
  • Forward thinking, a problem solver and solution provider;
  • Able to promote a positive working culture within the team;
  • Strong organisational and good communication skills both verbal and written.
