Summary

As Systems Integration and Data Governance Team Lead within Lightsource bp's global Data Team, you will build trusted relationships with senior business stakeholders and lead people to deliver effective systems integrations. You will translate business needs into clear technical requirements, explain technical choices in business terms, and align priorities and expectations across teams.

Drawing on hands-on integration experience, you will act as the systems integration subject matter expert: discussing and validating designs, guiding technical decisions and coordinating an offshore team of developers who carry out implementation. Your focus will be requirements, design assurance and delivery leadership rather than day-to-day development. You will also manage a small data governance team, supporting the continued development and adoption of the data governance capability. Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI integration is desirable, not essential; curiosity and willingness to learn will help you shape and lead this emerging capability with AI and architecture colleagues.

Core Responsibilities

  • Business stakeholder management: Build trusted relationships with senior business stakeholders to understand systems integration needs and data governance priorities. Translate these into clear requirements, agree delivery priorities and manage expectations. Explain progress, risks and technical trade-offs in business terms, ensuring solutions and governance practices deliver measurable value.
  • People leadership: Manage and develop the offshore integration team and the small data governance team. Set clear objectives, coach individuals, manage performance and build effective collaboration across locations, time zones and delivery partners.
  • Strategy alignment and delivery planning: Own the delivery plan across systems integration and data governance, aligning priorities with the Global Data Strategy, Data Governance Framework and Systems Integration Strategy. Track milestones, dependencies and risks across both teams, agree resources and escalate decisions where needed.
  • Requirements and business analysis: Lead discovery and requirements workshops during ideation and project conception, advising on systems integration and data governance. Clarify business processes and translate needs into specifications and acceptance criteria, ensuring shared understanding between business and technical teams.
  • Systems integration SME and design assurance: Guide the development and maintenance of systems integration and master data management architecture with architects. Review and validate end-to-end designs, mappings and workflows, assessing integration patterns, API strategies, messaging protocols, data consistency, transformation and validation. Assess performance, scalability, security and supportability; recommend risk mitigations and coordinate design sign-off with accountable architects before build or deployment.
  • Offshore development and delivery: Coordinate developers to implement agreed designs; prioritise work, track dependencies and milestones, remove blockers and review delivery quality. Oversee testing, business acceptance and readiness for deployment and support.
  • Integration standards and service quality: Drive global rollout of reusable integration patterns and automation across enterprise systems, in line with architectural standards. Guide resolution of complex issues involving data mapping, validation, error handling, monitoring and reconciliation. Oversee accurate, up-to-date technical documentation and reference designs, ensuring effective knowledge transfer to managed services.
  • Vendor and cross-team collaboration: Manage working relationships with systems integration and data governance vendors and delivery partners. Regularly evaluate new platform features for practical improvements to automation, service quality and ways of working. Coordinate with
  • Reporting, Data Engineering, AI, architecture, security and PMO colleagues to deliver coherent solutions and avoid duplication.
  • Data governance capability: Support the small team in continuing the global rollout, development and adoption of the Data Governance Framework, covering master data management, data quality, metadata management and access management. Work with business owners to embed practical governance and ensure integrations meet data protection requirements.
  • Emerging MCP and AI integration capability: Help shape the MCP strategy and lead agreed delivery with AI and architecture colleagues, enabling AI platforms to connect securely to enterprise systems. Build on existing integrations and promote reusable patterns, authentication, access controls and safeguards for read and write operations. Prior MCP experience is desirable, not essential, with scope to learn and develop in the role.
