What You’ll do (the role

 

Summary

 

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our IoE (Internet of Energy) team responsible for creating systems to monitor and control Distributed Energy Resources (DER) such as batteries, electric cars, solar generation and heat pumps etc.

 

The role focuses on combining the latest cloud technologies with the IoT world, to deliver cutting edge solutions such as Virtual Power Plants (VPP) for the clean energy market. You will be joining a team of talented engineers where we value individual contributions and timely deliverables.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Work with stakeholders and the team lead on the design based on requirements
  • Be able to deliver functional software within a timeframe
  • Contribute to the overall architecture of Virtual Power Plant engines.
  • Design and develop API endpoints
  • Cooperate closely with other system components owners ranging from IoT framework, business systems and front ends
  • Contribute to the clear documentation, both functional and for the APIs

 

Who we’re looking for

 

Experience & Knowledge

 

  • Some experience working on the micro servics based systems
  • Practical experience using Python or NodeJS
  • Experience working with the RESTful / Websockets APIs
  • Good exposure to Linux
  • Good understanding of Networking
  • Preferable knowledge of control systems.
  • Fluent in the Git flow
  • Experience with Databases - MySQL/Aurora, SQLite
  • Knowledge of time series databases - for example InfluxDB
  • Practical experience with AWS or GCP/Azure using both serverless and container deployments.
  • Ability to use CI/CD/CT tools like Jenkins
  • Experience working in the Agile environment
  • Ideally knowledge or a solid interest in the new energy market.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Preferred BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field

  • A creative problem solver with the ability to think laterally and understand the cost and value drivers within a competitive business environment
