What You’ll do (the role)

The legal team, with lawyers in London, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, Portugal, France, the US, Brazil and Australia, provides support across all the units of the business and all jurisdictions.

You will work as part of Lightsource bp’s Legal – Corporate team, a busy in-house team primarily focusing on corporate, commercial, intellectual property (such as trade marks) and company secretarial work. There may also be opportunities to support the wider Legal team units, including M&A, finance, construction, projects and property law. We encourage a high level of responsibility and you will be given the opportunity to gain hands on experience to become involved in other areas of law where business needs arise.

Who we’re looking for

General Skills

• Interest in corporate, commercial, intellectual property and company secretarial work.
• Strong written and verbal communication and legal research skills.
• Strong administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Interest in solar and renewable energy.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Commercial awareness and business acumen.

Experience

• Minimum one year of previous experience as a Paralegal or similar role in an office setting (ideally at a leading international / mid to top tier firm or in an in-house setting).
• Excellent academic record including a qualifying Law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or other similar / alternative qualification .
• Completion of the legal practice course (LPC) or other similar / alternative qualification.

• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
• Diligence and excellent attention to detail.
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

• Ambition to learn and progress with the entrepreneurial spirit of the company and in-house team of experts whilst developing your own legal skills.
