Valuation Director, Structured Finance

Summary
The Structured Finance team is committed to helping Lightsource bp finance and commercialize 25GW by 2025 having helped finance approximately 2.7 GW and raise approximately $3 billion of debt and tax equity financing in the USA since 2019. To support our mandate, our team is looking for a highly motivated and analytical Technical Director candidate who has a strong interest in joining a dynamic and high performing team to capitalize on substantial deal flow for a top tier platform in the U.S. This senior-level position will lead all technical aspects of project finance modeling across the Structured Finance function.    The Technical Director will draw on their modeling expertise and experience in finance, tax, and accounting to advise the commercial teams and to help achieve accurate, consistent, and accretive results, ensuring the successful financing of all of Lightsource bp’s utility-scale solar projects. 


Duties and Responsibilities
•    Own and maintain all of LSbp’s financial modeling tools, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, and streamlined at all times.
•    Develop and incorporate new features into LSbp’s financial models and build models for financing structures that LSbp hasn’t previously utilized, based on market demand and feedback.
•    Research and be an expert in emerging technical trends in tax equity and debt financing as well as competitor activities and noteworthy transactions.
•    Closely track market pricing, structures and trends in project financing. 
•    Own and update key economic assumptions and metrics in the master set of financial tools.
•    Advise Structured Finance deal leads and management on project financing trends – pricing, structural features, risk exposure, etc.
•    Assist junior team members with complex modeling issues and updates as required for deal closings.
•    Support deal teams in their negotiations with financing counterparties on an ad hoc basis to ensure that Lightsource bp always obtains the most accretive and optimal deal structure.
•    Coordinate with LSbp’s Tax and Corporate Finance teams and with outside accounting and legal advisors to evaluate, optimize, and track US corporate income tax exposure.
•    Reduce the need to call on outside consultants by providing their services internally.
Knowledge
•    Very strong Microsoft Excel skills
•    Extremely detailed technical understanding of renewable energy tax equity and debt financing structures
•    Advanced accounting and tax acumen
•    Familiarity with HLBV accounting 
•    Outstanding analytical skills
Qualifications 
•    Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field.
Experience 
•    7+ years renewable energy project finance experience, with direct work experience in financial modeling, tax equity and debt structuring, and accounting
•    Successful track record of executing tax equity and debt transactions from beginning to end
