What You’ll do
The candidate will be involved in technical aspects related to the MV and HV electrical engineering side of the PV power plants, from project development to design, construction and operation, in compliance with the following main responsibilities:
• Support the Senior HV Manager for Project Development and Project Acquisition processes including the review of design proposals and third-party reports on grid connection and HV electrical related matters.
• Participate in regular out of office PV and Energy storage site visits supporting HV project management during construction period and, Mechanical and Substantial Completion;
• Support the HV Senior Manager in contractual negotiation with HV EPC regarding technical areas such as HV electrical engineering, equipment specifications, testing,
• Review and generation of MV/HV Inspection Reports / punch lists
• Conduct substation electrical equipment document review and specification including main power transformers, switchgears, cables, protection equipment including relays and instrument transformers.
• Contribute to maintaining and optimizing minimum technical specifications for all MV and HV electrical related equipment and project management involved in the construction of a PV plant.
• Management and coordination of external consultants to complete the internal assessments
• Managing construction and procurement
• Developing relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders
• Managing timelines and deliverables
• Scheduling and managing deadlines
Who we’re looking for
Knowledge / Experience
• Working knowledge of MV/HV equipment including switchgear, transformers, protections, underground/OH lines and other MV/HV equipment.
• Extensive in field experience of MV/HV deployment and associated good practice installation of such equipment
• Familiarity with commissioning tests for renewable installations.
• Experience in power systems for renewable installations, including HV substations
• Potential to learn detailed electrical system design using specialized power system analysis software (including, ampacity, Load flow, short-circuit, Rms, EMT, Stability,etc.) such as Digsilent Power Factory, PSS/E, PowerrWorld, Etap, ETMTPrv, PSCAD, Cymcap or similar
• Familiarity with PV industry and PV systems including inverters, transformers, cabling.
• Familiarity with storage system technologies and strategies for renewable applications
• Familiarity with utility grid code concepts
Qualifications
• Preferably a degree level qualification associated with electrical power systems and/or electrical engineering
• Candidates with additional qualification in renewable energy (especially PV) would be preferred

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in electrical / power engineering
• 10+ years of experience in the electrical power systems industry including 5+ in renewables/substation projects
• Fluent English spoken and written, driving license valid in the US, Additional languages is a plus.
• International working experience or in projects globally
• Strong interest in renewable energy
• Proactive and being able to prioritize workload,
• Autonomous, adaptable, and multi-skilled
• Forward thinking, a problem solver and solution provider;
• Able to promote a positive working culture within the team;
• Strong organizational and good communication skills both verbal and written.

We Offer:
· US team members are entitled to medical benefits, life insurance, dental benefits, vision benefits and short- and long-term disability benefits. Lightsource bp pays for the first $800 of the monthly insurance premium. For staff members with dependents, Lightsource will cover 50% of the costs of covering dependents. The team member contributes the remainder of the premium, if any, through pre-tax payroll deduction.
· Lightsource bp offers US team members immediate eligibility for a 401(k) plan, with a 3% nonelective employer contribution.
· Our team members are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, calculated based on corporate, team and individual objectives. Team members in the US may receive an additional 50% of their annual bonus in a “retention bank” as well, available for withdrawal after three years of bonus awards have accrued.
· Lightsource bp currently observes the following 11 holidays in the US: New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
· US team members accrue 20 days of vacation and 15 days of sick leave annually. All team members are also eligible for COVID-19 leave.
· Team members in the US enjoy a hybrid work environment.
· US team members receive a monthly personal phone bill reimbursement of up to $100 and a monthly commuter benefit of up to $150. Team members also receive one-time wellness and remote work allowances
