Senior Manager, Structured Finance

Summary

The Structured Finance team is committed to helping Lightsource bp finance and commercialize 25GW by 2025 having helped financing 2.2 GW and raise  $2.5bn of debt and tax equity financing in the USA since 2019. To support our mandate, our team is looking for a highly motivated and analytical Senior Manager or Manager candidate who has a strong interest in joining a dynamic and high performing team to capitalize on substantial deal flow for a top tier platform in the U.S. The individual will work closely with the development, origination, construction, legal, and engineering teams to ensure successful financings for utility‐scale solar projects. In addition, the individual will be responsible for managing Senior Analysts while managing various reports and deliverables necessary to close utility‐scale project finance debt and tax equity financings.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support negotiations with financing counterparties for solar assets, including tax equity, construction debt, term debt, and other financial products.
  • Perform all aspects of transaction execution including project marketing, establishment of financing terms, investor due diligence, modeling, management of outside consultants, and closing.
  • Provide guidance to Lightsource bp’s Business Development and Project Development teams regarding financial modeling and investor appetite for new financial structures.
  • Support Business Development team members successfully pricing and winning solar and solar + storage projects.
  • Prepare investment committee presentations at key milestones in project lifecycle including term sheet execution and financial close.   
  • Support valuation and financing efforts for acquisitions of projects that have offtake contracts. 
  • Work with junior staff to maintain and refine the company’s financial model suite through continuous improvement.
  • Closely follow industry trends and competitors, including deal flow and transaction.

 

Who we’re looking for  

Knowledge & Skillset

  • Outstanding financial modeling skills.   
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including comfort interacting with internal management and financing counterparties.
  • Detailed knowledge of tax equity and debt structures in the renewable energy space; or conceptual understanding of power markets preferred.
  • Knowledge of VBA (a plus).

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4‐6 years finance experience in a transactional role, preferably in investment banking, working for a renewable energy development company, or in another role performing detailed financial analyses.
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a quantitative field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • Successful track record of supporting project finance transactions from beginning to end.
  • All remote candidates qualified to work in the USA shall be considered, however strong bias will be given to candidates willing to relocate to and work from our offices in San Francisco or Denver.
