What you’ll do (the role)

Summary

This role is offered as a two‑year fixed‑term contract, with potential to transition to a permanent position subject to business needs.

LSbp are looking for a Construction Manager to support the Team in the delivery of PV solar and BESS projects, and associated grid connections, in Queensland, Australia. 

The Construction Manager will oversee site construction to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards and technical specifications.throughtout the execution phase.

Integrating with the established Solar construction team to ensure projects are consistently delivered safely and to the exemplary standards expected by LSbp.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Be the focal point at site between the senior project manager (SPM), contractors, local authorities/government, local community,provide effective communication and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met, including regular  monitoring of the activities being undertaken,proactively work with all stakeholders to foster a continual improvement ethos toward the safety culture at site
  • Monitor and control project progress, quality and the contractual compliance of the work performed by the contractor(s).
  • Report and record any deviations and NCR’s to the SPM, including those related to:
    • engineering/procurement/construction schedule, 
    • construction vs engineering design,
    • environmental, technical NCRs,
    • health and safety deviations.
  • Propose corrective actions including draft responses to contractual deviations such as corrective action to be undertaken by the contractor. 
  • Provide to SPM a daily report capturing the progress achieved compared to the BOQ, including rate of progress, and forecasting/validating forecast milestone dates. 
  • Ensure ‘best practice’ quality procedures are in place, and all ITP activitiesare duly conducted and documented.
  • Conduct follow up meetings to establish an understanding of the required standards and risk mitigation with minimal impact to the project.
  • Provide onsite stakeholder liaison to local businesses, landowners, and other project stakeholders as required.
  • Proactively provide lessons learnt and best practice updates for the local and broader teams.
  • Provide technical, contractual, and budget guidance to the development team and the rest of Lightsource BP business in order to implement improvements resulting from lessons learned.

 

Why you’ll make a great member of the team

Experience & Knowledge Required

  • In depth knowledge of the development and construction process of Solar PV/ Grid Scale Battery storage / Utility substations / Power Plants in Australia, including HSE requirements.
  • 5 to10 years construction site experience as a site manager / supervisor / owners site representative.
  • Recent experience in the construction of solar PV plants / BESS projects in Australia, Queensland preferable.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, ICP contractors and / or integration contractors.
  • Experience working on or with high voltage transmission / distribution sites, including relevant safety and operational procedures.
  • Understanding of the Australian safety regulations and experience of a strong safety culture, and the key roles and responsibilities for construction sites.

  • Site based, establishing daily contact with the rest of the Team based in the head office.
  • Great builder and leader of diverse teams.
  • Must be comfortable in hosting Executive and technical team(s) site visits.

 

 

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
  • Safety qualifications eg IOSH / NEBOSH / OSHA (or equivalent).
  • Construction skills eg CSCS Registered (or equivalent).
