Summary
In this role, you will be part of a highly skilled Deals team whose focus is on enhancing LSbp’s development and project execution capabilities. The Deals Team leverages our extensive development, business development and construction experience across the US organization to align processes, drive consistency and seek out best practice. The Senior Analyst role will provide consistent budgeting, risk analysis and handovers for early- and mid-stage projects, including managing project financial models. You will drive analysis and recommendations to Senior Management for the advancement of early-stage projects through development towards financing, construction, and operations.
You’ll work closely with in-country development teams and central functions to manage a pipeline of projects, ensuring they are bankable, in line with business targets, solving problems as they arise. Alongside project development, you’ll manage, create and update processes which contribute to the standardization and enhancement of the region’s project development capabilities, and roll out proprietary tools and systems to ensure that LSbp ways of working are applied consistently across the business. You will also be challenged to think outside of the box and propose innovative ways change the way we do things, to ensure that LSbp can remain at the forefront of global solar & BESS development.

Duties and responsibilities
• Oversee projects effectively – leading meetings and directing stakeholders to ensure maximum efficiency and deliverables exceed Lightsource bp’s margin requirements. This necessitates high levels of action-orientation, clear communication at all times, including weekly and monthly meetings/reporting to peers, project team and Executives.
• Hold in-country teams accountable for providing financial model inputs and ensuring that assumptions are robust and signed off by relevant stakeholders.
• Support commercial decisions and create recommendations to the Executive Team for key projects through financial model analysis and producing business analysis deliverables, such as project briefs and traditional waterfalls.
• Develop a strong understanding of the development approach in multiple geographies and work to improve existing ways of working and implement new processes, requiring the ability to listen to stakeholders from many different cultures, with different levels and areas of expertise and find consensus between them.
• Provide strategic support and budgetary guidance on external negotiations relating to land rights, deeds, permits, grid offers, planning, construction contracts and PPA where required, to ensure bankable agreements are reached on time.
• Ensure in-country teams are implementing effective project management practises, such as keeping project cashflows and timelines accurate and up-to-date.
• Supervise and support the in-country teams in writing and presenting formal budget requests to senior leadership, Executive Management Committee and Investment Committee, ensuring the requests are well thought through and robust before they are presented.
• Develop an understanding of key contracts (EPC, MIPA, PPA, BTA) and development requirements (such as land rights agreements) and be able to highlight key issues based on experience in other geographies and projects, working closely with in-country development and legal teams as necessary.
• Support development teams with the use of in-house development practices and provide insight and critical analysis as to how such practices should be modified or improved.
Knowledge
• Excellent project management skills with proven experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and cultures
• Understanding of project finance modelling best practices and terminology. Senior Analyst should have prior experience managing project financials and willingness to learn intricacies of various US markets.
• Excellent relationship & stakeholder management skills, including conflict management, managing team dynamics, effective communication and consensus building
• Ability to get to the heart of a problem and clearly communicate solutions and priorities to the team
• Knowledge of property, PPA and EPC contracts
• Strong written and verbal English language (other languages beneficial but not necessary)
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Background in energy/management consulting/investment banking/finance/engineering preferred
• Experience in renewable energy and storage industries preferred
Experience
• Strong track record in renewable project development and closing deals
• Significant experience in developing and managing work-related projects, people and deadlines and resources across cross-function teams is a must
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in development and/or contracting of renewables, preferably solar and/or storage

• Team player with ability to forge long-term professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to work autonomously and take initiative to independently solve problems
• Highly adaptable with ability to learn quickly and work to tight and changing deadlines.
• Ability to flex – someone who can take the lead in situations that requires a strong voice to close issues, but can also let the project team lead
• Excellent negotiator and communicator
• Attention to detail and a drive to understand the “why”

• Competitive compensation: $120,000 to $140,000 annually plus a discretionary 10% annual bonus.
