HV / SCADA / Interconnection Intern — Summer 2026
Lightsource bp is seeking a HV / SCADA / Interconnection Intern to join our Transmission and Grid Integration team. This internship offers hands-on exposure to the technical side of renewable energy development, including substations, grid interconnection, SCADA systems, and regulatory compliance.
Interns will support engineering and project teams across the development, design, construction, and operational phases of utility-scale solar projects while gaining valuable experience in grid infrastructure and power systems.
Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid)
Duration: Early June – Mid-August (~10 weeks)
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Pay: $20/hour
Work Arrangement: Hybrid with occasional project site visits
What You’ll Do
- Assist with reviewing technical drawings, equipment specifications, and project documentation
- Support interconnection and facility study reviews
- Help organize and maintain project documentation and engineering records
- Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings
- Assist with NERC compliance documentation and regulatory processes
- Support SCADA Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and third‑party coordination
- Help manage as‑built documentation and operational site records
- Participate in site visits and project meetings when applicable
- Support lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or a related field
- Interest in power systems, substations, grid interconnection, or SCADA systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail when reviewing technical documentation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools
- Interest in renewable energy infrastructure and grid integration
Internship Details
- 10‑week summer internship (June–August)
- $20/hour | 40 hours per week
- Hybrid schedule with occasional site visits
- Opportunity to present a final summary of your internship work
