Summary of the Role

 

Lightsource bp offer comprehensive third-party Operations & Maintenance (O&M) services, covering all aspects of solar and storage O&M.

 

The role of the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) is to ensure the optimum safe performance of PV solar plants within a region by undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance activities on HV (up to 33kV) and LV systems.

 

Location

 

Ideally based in the Bristol area. This position will be predominately covering the sites in Wales.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Maintaining full adherence to all health and safety procedures
  • Play an active role in risk assessment and method statements reviews and approvals
  • To perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HV and associated LV systems manged through minimised downtime and seasonal impacts
  • In conjunction with planning department, ensure all HV Maintenance is carried out within region against specified timescales and in accordance to the annual PM plan
  • To ensure all HV remedials work is tracked and driven to closure in within set timescales and priority
  • To play a key role in owning and driving comms cell metrics for your chosen area and supporting the wider business in improvements.
  • Assist with HV related safety incident investigations
  • Coach, support and mentor subordinates through training process and development
  • To provide remote support to Authorised Persons performing HV switching operations in conjunction with the Control Engineer
  • Assist with the compilation of insurance and warranty claims
  • Assist with the construction of plant as required
  • Manage relationships with local subcontractors and ensure quality of workmanship is being delivered through 3rd parties
  • To lead and own specific electrical projects from a delivery perspective which could be region based or wider across the UK portfolios.
  • Provide reports on tasks undertaken within designated timeframes
  • Provide ideas/improvements through innovative thinking on enhancing things like switchgear and the network

Knowledge & Experience

 

  • Working knowledge of HV distribution Systems
  • Ability to read schematic drawings and understand content
  • Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations, Health and Safety at Work act and Electricity, Safety, Quality and continuity Regulations
  • Knowledge of Protection Testing
  • Previously held authorisation as a Senior Authorised Person on demonstrable experience
  • Experience in distribution systems through the range 400v to 33kV 

Work Skills

 

  • Full Driver’s License
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, and other bespoke software packages
  • Ability to work in different environments
  • Excellent analytical, organisation & planning skills
  • Ability to identify problems, understand key issues and investigate alternatives

Qualifications

 

  • Currently authorized as a High Voltage SAP
  • Educated to a minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent demonstrable experience
