About the Role

The Senior Associate, Acquisitions & Divestments role supports the Acquisitions & Divestments team in evaluating and executing purchase and sale opportunities for solar and storage projects that help LSbp achieve its ambitious growth and value targets. This role also supports Lightsource bp’s data center business development activities.

You will help support M&A activities, including evaluating projects, managing due diligence processes, and supporting negotiations for solar and storage M&A transactions. These transactions may include single asset purchase agreements, pipeline and platform acquisitions, build-transfer agreements, and ready-to-build sales.

This role features significant cross-functional collaboration with teams across origination, development, engineering, construction, legal, finance, and corporate strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage databases of contacts and project deal flow
  • Lead internal workflows to evaluate acquisition opportunities and provide timely responses to partners
  • Coordinate closely with leadership, Project Development, Environmental, Interconnection, Engineering, and Procurement teams to thoroughly evaluate projects and make recommendations
  • Develop bid materials for competitive responses to M&A processes
  • Support counterparty meetings and contract negotiations
  • Lead financial modeling analysis to support bids for M&A opportunities
  • Manage internal due diligence teams’ review and commentary on projects to identify risks and inform contract negotiations
  • Synthesize project fundamentals, diligence findings, and economics to develop business cases and leadership presentations for project approvals
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication when sharing work product with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support ad hoc strategic projects to enable market, technology, and product expansion
  • Perform regular market research on competitors and customers to monitor competitor and customer activities, capabilities, and strategic moves
  • Develop materials to support business development efforts for the data center business
  • Track business development relationships and follow-ups as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of utility-scale solar and storage development processes
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience working across teams and functions to deliver results
  • Ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex and ambiguous information
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills, including proficiency in Excel with the ability to create and troubleshoot macros and complex financial models
  • Strong results orientation and attention to detail
  • Advanced project management skills with the ability to work in fast-paced environments, meet frequent deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience

  • 3 years’ experience in business development or sales support, preferably in the energy industry
  • Understanding of energy project fundamentals, including project development, business development, and financing
  • Understanding of energy market structures and value streams
  • Experience creating customer collateral and materials to support board and investment committee approval processes and business development

  • Excellent attention to detail when entering and validating data, with an ability to recognize, question, and resolve anomalies
  • Interest in current and future market trends in the energy industry, particularly utility-scale solar and storage technologies
  • Self-starter with strong motivation to contribute to the team
  • Ability to handle complex and highly ambiguous scopes of work
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible, professional, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced business environment

Compensation and Benefits

We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Base salary range: $110,000 to $135,000 annually
  • Annual bonus: 15%
  • Health, dental, prescription, and vision care for U.S. team members starting on the first day of employment
