What you’ll do (the role)

Summary 

To develop solar and BESS projects and carry out supplementary tasks to ensure that the Business Development team reach their set targets while working in close collaboration with our New Zealand joint venture partner, Contact Energy.   

Responsibilities of the Role 

  • To originate, develop and optimise solar and BESS projects
  • To manage a portfolio of in-house developed, introduced and/or acquired projects from initiation to financial close
  • To develop new business opportunities
  • To collaborate closely with our joint venture partner working under the terms of the arrangement
  • To develop strong working relationships and liaise closely with other internal teams including engineering, planning, grid, energy markets, delivery, legal and finance to assist in the development of projects
  • To assist other developers by carrying out supporting activities when needed.
  • To understand and develop company strategies and develop business and business practices accordingly.
  • To work with the Development team and other departments to improve processes and efficiency.
  • In addition, the Employee will perform such other duties, appropriate to the position as the Company may from time to time require.

Experience & Knowledge Required 

  • Over three years experience in developing renewables projects
  • Experience in the development process from project initiation to financial close
  • Varied experience in private and public sector
  • Understanding of renewables industry, energy and environmental issues
  • Technical understanding of solar and BESS development and construction
  • Understanding of environmental planning constraints
  • External stakeholder engagement capability

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills 
  • Strong project management capability
  • Core capabilities in commercial activities including strategy, financial models, funding arrangements and legals
  • Adapting to new challenges and learning quickly
  • Attention to detail and quality of output

 

Education Required 

  • Bachelors Degree in related discipline
