What You’ll do (the role)

SUMMARY

The position requires both technical and commercial knowledge. This role involves a team player aptitude to ensure that grid connections required by Lightsource bp projects in Greece are processed and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner, in accordance with the technical specs of the TSO and the Applicable Law.

The candidate will be involved in technical aspects related to the MV and HV electrical engineering side of the PV power plant interconnection to the HV grid, from project development to design, construction and operation, in compliance with the following main responsibilities:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Head of Grid for Project construction, Project Development and Project Acquisition processes including the review of design proposals and third-party reports on grid connection and HV electrical related matters.
  • Contribute to maintaining and optimizing minimum technical specifications for all MV and HV electrical related equipment and project management involved in the construction of a PV plant/ substation.
  • Conduct substation electrical equipment document review and specification including main power transformers, switchgears, cables, protection equipment including relays and instrument transformers
  • Support the Head of Grid in contractual negotiation with HV EPC regarding technical areas such as HV electrical engineering, equipment specifications, testing
  • Support Head of Grid on leading the interconnection activities to energize the project by managing and scheduling the meetings with contractors and TSO as well as handing over documentation (technical documents, time schedules, permits etc.)
  • Support on the review of project budget, non-conformities or poor performance of the contractor
  • Management of the Owner Engineer including, design review
  • To carry out technical due diligence and risk assessment on grid connection schemes/grid offers received from TSO.
  • To assist in providing the cost estimates and grid connection delivery timescales to business development teams.
  • Management and coordination of external consultants to complete the internal assessments.
  • Regularly attend the site to review construction activities
  • Monitor ICP timeline, installation, major equipment FAT’s,  SAT, commissioning SIT and energization.
  • Support in management of construction and procurement, as that developing relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Managing timelines and deliverables, while scheduling and managing deadlines
  • To manage and be responsible for the process of grid applications ensuring they are submitted in a timely manner and progress through the TSO and National processes without delay.

 

Who we’re looking for

KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE

  • Strong technical knowledge of HV (150-400kV) connection concept in Greece along with the associated construction and commissioning activities
  • Deep knowledge of HV/MV substation and circuit design and construction standards,
  • Working knowledge of HV/MV equipment including HV GIS switchgear, transformers, protections & Control systems (SCADA), underground/OH lines and other MV/HV equipment.
  • Candidates with exposure in substation construction environment,
  • Candidates with knowledge in power system analysis software (Digsilent/ PSS) or cable ampacity calculation software (Cymcap), would be given priority 
  • Candidates with knowledge of TSO connection procedure and administrative authorizations required for connection of renewable plants in the Greece market, would be given priority
  • Knowledge of TSO specifications and working methods would be given priority

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferably a degree level qualification associated with electrical power systems and/or electrical engineering
  • Candidates with additional qualification in renewable energy (especially PV) would be preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in electrical / power engineering
  • 5+ years’ exposure in HV substation projects, including GIS,
  • Experience in the construction of substation working for an ICP Contractor, for facilities including GIS,
  • Experience in construction of OHL and UGL is preferred,
  • Fluent English spoken and written, driving license valid in the US, Additional languages is a plus.
  • International working experience or in projects globally
  • Strong interest in renewable energy
